Where can I park?
Parkside Pottery is located in a residential area and there's lots of free parking in our street and streets all around, all we ask is you do not park opposite our house. Drop-off at the door is an option. Parking the other side of Easthill Park offers a lovely short walk through the park to us. If you have any mobility issues please tell us in advance, and we can arrange for you to park on the driveway. If you have any parking questions, please feel free to ask!

I’ve booked a place on a course but can no longer make it. Can I get a refund?
Once a place has been booked, the fees are non-refundable. However, if we are able to resell your place to another student before the course starts, we will happily transfer your booking and refund your fees. While we will do our best, we cannot guarantee a resale.

I missed one class. Can I do an extra lesson to catch up?
You should be able to catch up during your next scheduled lesson. The first and last few lessons are the most crucial, so we strongly recommend attending those. Unfortunately, it is not possible to join a different course to make up a missed session. Please check your availability before signing up to ensure you can attend all classes.

I finished my course. When can I collect my finished pots?
You will receive a notification when your work is ready for collection. Once you receive this, you will have 2 months to pick up your pots. Due to space limitations, we are unable to store them beyond this period.

Are tools and materials included in the course fees?
Yes, tools and materials are included. Each student receives up to 5kg of clay as part of the course. Any additional clay used is charged at £1 per dry kilo.

I have no previous experience in pottery. Which courses are best suited for me?
All our courses are designed for students of all levels, including complete beginners. No prior experience is needed—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn! Plus, our courses provide a great opportunity to meet others and enjoy a fun, social environment.

Can I bring my own clay or glazes to my class?
No, we do not allow students to bring their own clay, glazes, or ceramic materials. However, you are welcome to bring small tools or objects to help shape your work, such as shells for creating textured designs.

Can I bring a guest?
For health and safety reasons, guests are not permitted unless they have booked a space for themselves.

Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are allowed by request only. We love furry friends and have two small, friendly dogs who may be in the garden at times. If you have allergies or prefer not to be around dogs, please let us know in advance, and we will keep them out of the studio and garden during your visit.
Can I put my pottery in the dishwasher/microwave?
We recommend hand washing your pottery and avoiding the microwave to ensure its longevity.
I have a comment or a complaint. Who should I talk to?
We value feedback and strive to provide an excellent experience for all our customers. If you have a comment or complaint, please contact us at parksidepottery.co.uk. Your input helps us improve our services.
For pottery-making classes: My piece hasn’t worked or has broken. What can I do?
Pottery is an unpredictable craft, and pieces may sometimes break or fail during firing. This can be due to various factors, from air bubbles in the clay to unforeseen kiln issues. We recommend expecting a 25% failure rate as part of the learning process. If your piece is severely damaged, we will arrange an opportunity for you to remake it.
How long will it take to fire my work?
Finished pieces are typically ready for collection 7-10 days after your session. The process involves glazing, drying, kiln firing, cooling, and unloading, which takes time to ensure quality results.
How do I collect my pottery?
At the end of your session, you will receive a receipt with a unique code. We will text you when your pottery is ready for collection, usually within 12-14 days.
Can I have my pottery posted to me?
Yes, we can post items within mainland UK, but we generally advise against it due to the fragility of ceramics and high postage costs. Delivery may take up to 28 days. Alternatively, you can arrange for a courier or taxi to collect your pottery—just let us know in advance and provide them with your pottery reference number.
What happens if I am running late or don’t finish in time?
If you are running late, please let us know so we can hold your table for you. We typically hold reservations for 20 minutes before offering them to other customers.
If you do not finish your piece in time, you are welcome to return to complete it later. A half-price studio fee will apply when you return for another session.
Is the studio fully accessible?
Our studio has level access, but it is not fully wheelchair accessible. If you have mobility requirements, please let us know when booking so we can arrange a suitable table for you.
What toilet facilities are available?
We have a clean and comfortable eco-compost toilet located next to the studio.
Are paints safe for children and babies?
Yes! Our paints are water-based, non-toxic underglazes that are completely safe for children and babies. They also wash out of clothes easily—good news for parents!
For pottery painting: What happens if my piece goes wrong in the kiln?
Ceramics is an unpredictable medium, and sometimes pieces may crack during firing. If this happens, we will provide you with a voucher for the full value of the item so you can decorate a replacement piece free of charge.
I’d like to book an adult party, hen do, or work event. How does that work?
For detailed information on our party packages, please click here. Alternatively, you can make a standard booking and bring your own cake or bubbly. Feel free to call the studio, and we’ll help you plan the best option for your event!
Are you open on public holidays?
We are closed on all UK public holidays and between Christmas and New Year.
Let us know if you have any further questions—we’re happy to help! 🎨😊
